Yes, that is what I meant in the first quote above. Microsoft's OE is not Apple software installed by the OSX Install CD as Apple's Mail is. OE is a freebie that you have to install yourself. It comes free on the Install CD, but I originally got mine (years ago) by downloading it from Microsoft's MacTopia site. And after installing OE, you are responsible for updating it yourself, while Mail gets updated automatically by Software Update.
