Andy,
Back then, both Quantum and Maxtor both were offering 3 year, return to
manufacturer warranties on their hard drives.
Unfortunately, that doesn't include data recovery, however.
If your drive is toasted, let me know if you need a contact or phone
number information.  Having your original invoice will help but they
should have a date of manufacture stamped onto the drive.
