3G Technology (GEM *) has 17" & 19" LCD flat panels (4x3 aspect ratio).

The models were available with & without enclosed speakers; had good
  resolution and video response, and can be had for a low price. I
bought
  a 17" w/o speakers from MacMall that cost less than $180 (after
rebates);
  very good performance.

Your fuzziness is probably due more to the additional monitor's
differences
  in its own technology/construction, than to the display's resolution.
