Hey folks,

The signal from my trusty Netgear 814 wireless router has suddenly
gotten weak. At first, I thought it was a problem with my powerbook,
which always has crummy reception, but my wife's much trustier
powerbook has had a big degeneration in reception, also. The router
wasn't moved, and no new equipment was placed near it. The weakness
started before the storms this week, but it seems that the problem
has been worse since the storms. The router is hooked to a UPS which
lost its juice overnight, but which shouldn't have had some sort of
low voltage problem. Whatever.

I have a hard time believing that a router can wear out, but can they
suddenly lose range? I would think that they'd either work or not,
but not move to some in-between state. Please enlighten me.

Bill
