I post so rarely that I haven't even learned how to copy the post(s) I'm replying to, but much thanks to Mike Garton, Lee Larson, and Ed Wiser for your responses to my question. Lee, I'm using an iMac G4 (w flat panel display); the internal drive is the one that came with the Mac and the external drive is a Seagate 300GB Dual-Interface (no model number, apparently). Nor is there any indication in the Guide about speed. Ed wondered if I'm using Final Cut. Don't I wish. This is a low-level amateur operation, and it all got started just because I was messing around with iMovie and thought it would be neat to have some footage to edit. I'd like to move up to Final Cut, but it's not likely. Unless, of course, this project wins an Oscar :>). Anyway, thanks for your answers. One says edit on the internal drive, two say external. Guess I'll just have to experiment a bit.
