I haven't had the opportunity to work with X much. Can someone help me out?

I believe that the machine in question has two OS 9 system folders on it - one
9.0 and one 9.2. In addition the hard drive has been partitioned and has OS X
installed. The end user was going to switch back to OS 9 and selected it as the
start up system. When his machine booted however he received the following
message:

"The system software on the startup disk only functions on the original media,
not if copied to another drive."

This is a co-worker's home machine so I can't tell you much about the set up.
Anyone have any ideas what could be going on here?

Thanks!
Beth
