Ok group,
Here is the situation I can't quite figure out. Because of a stolen
credit card number, I have been checking my account status for the
account several times in the last 10 days, to see if any more
fraudulent charges have come through. (The number was closed, and a new
one issued), but I could still access it with the same user name and
password on the Bank One cardmember services web site. I was checking
it yesterday, logged in fine, and all was ok, logged out, then
remembered to check for something that caught my eye, and tried to log
back on. That is when things started getting strange. Every time I now
try to get onto either Bank One site,( one for checking, one for
credit card) using Safari, I go to the Bank One homepage, ok there,
but when I try to log in, after putting in the user name and password,
I get a drop down window saying that Safari cannot find the server. But
this only happens on my work desktop unit, a dual G4 running 10.3.7. I
can do the samething with my laptop( powerbook, also running 10.3.7) at
the same location, and can get on fine. At home, with my iMac I can get
on fine. I have a .Mac account and use iSync to keep the Safari
settings the same with the 3 units. With the desktop G4 I have tried
all I can think of, short of reinstalling Safari, ie: cleared the
cache, history, have run disk permissions, and have even reset Safari,
and trashed the safari. plist file, on that unit, and still can't log
onto THAT site. I have no trouble getting into a account I have with
National City, or any other web activity. If I use Internet Explorer on
the G4, no problem either.
So, should I reinstall Safari, on that G4, and put in the setting files
from one of the other units, or is this a Keychain problem, which I am
ashamed to say, I never really understood how to deal with?
Hope this isn't too long winded, but thought one of you problem solvers
would like to have a go at this. I know alot of you like the other
browsers, ie, firefox, omniweb, ect. but I like Safari and the iSync
feature with the 3 different cpu's
Thanks for any input, help, ect.
Mike Robertson
