A very friendly mac alternative to ACT! is a program called DayLite.  It 
imports ACT! databases and has a very clean carbonized look.  It retails for 
around $150 and more info can be found at daylite .com.  It s a great program 
and has a short learning curve.  It imported my ACT! database perfectly.
