I agree with Rex *to some degree* WRT the privacy issues with Gmail. However, your mail, says google, is only scanned by machines, never by humans. I seriously doubt that any email sitting on any server is completely safe from prying eyes (or crawlng bots). If Big Brother really wants to know what you're up to, he will find out no matter where your email is stored.
