You might try the VideoLan player 
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html
If it can be played, then VideoLan should be able to do it.

Extraction is another question, as there are mainly two types of DVD 
movies: encrypted and non-encrypted. A lot of people like Forty-two for 
the non-encrypted ripping.

for several articles on how to do extractions.

p.s. Why in the world would they use RW discs for something like this? 
I would think they would not want folks re-writing those "memories"..., 
not to mention they cost more than the R discs do, but hey that's just 
my thoughts.
