I have many times backed up my computer using Dantz Retrospect, but recently Retrospect has balked. It gives me a box that says:
Error: Scanning incomplete, error -37 (invalid name). I have determined that the offending file is part of a download of an Apple program. I know the folder it was in, and put that folder and all its visible contents in the trash. Trying to emptying the trash failed, generated this message: The item "HFS+ Private Data" could not be deleted, because an error of type -37 occurred. Do you want to continue? The trash now appears empty, but generates that message when emptied. I gone over my keyboard trying to find the "reserved characters" that may not be used in file names. I found only one: [:]. I have searched with Sherlock for [:] and not found it in any file name. Who will rid me of this troublesome pest?
