I guess this is a good time for me to ask something I was wondering about
lately. I understand that Windows is piggybacked onto the DOS operating
system. Is that correct?

Since the Mac OS stands alone, I was wondering if a given operation requires
more work to be done by Windows/DOS than the same operation done my Mac OS.
Or, I could ask is a 500mhz Windows machine slower than a 500mhz Mac? If
so, is the difference enough to be detected by a human?
