Mac Help is on the Menu Bar>Help. Has nothing to do with AOL, you
don't have to be connected the the Internet to use Help. When an
Application opens, its Icon appears in Dock. When the Application
Quits, its icon disappears from Dock?unless Keep in Dock is chosen.
The fact that these little Applications are disappearing from Dock
indicates that both are crashing upon opening, indicating a Finder
error. You should either bring this Mac to the monthly meeting, or
make arrangements to have someone knowledgeable look in on it. I
strongly suggest you back up everything possible. While the problem
may be ever so simple, it is impossible to know what you may have
done to date. Tiger has fewer problems than any other OS X version.
Were it mine to do, I would back this baby up in-total, erase the HD,
and start over?preferably with Tiger...jf
