thanks for answering this so quickly. I have had various mishaps like
this and never been able to figure out why. Apparently, the process is
ok but the technique is not. I really appreciate the explanation and
easy to follow instructions.

Which indicates that you have move the files elsewhere, in this case
inadvertently to the desktop. See below.?

A simple inadvertent mousing error. You have physically moved the file
from bridge to the "desktop" instead of into the burn folder. Moving
the file back into bridge simply reversed, or corrected the movement.
You simply stacked the file icon on top of the burn folder icon. Click
on the Desktop then in Finder/View/View Options, or CMD + J, you may
select how the desktop icons are organized. I use Arrange by Kind,
though a simple snap to grid setting will keep the icons separated...jf?
