Of a sudden, many of my Apple applications won't launch -- or rather they
_seem_ to launch (they show up in the dock with the black triangle next to
them) -- but they never appear on screen.

Apps that are doing this are: Mail, Address Book, iCal, Safari, all of my
System Preferences. Trying to launch some of these gives me the eternal
spinning beach ball, with the only way out being force-quitting that particular
program.

Am using 10.3.3. Have tried:

1. Rebooting, including Safe Booting
2. Running MacJanitor (successful)
3. Rebuilding directory with Disk Warrior (successful)

Have not tried:

1. Throwing away system preference files, as I'm not sure which ones to get rid
of and where they would all be.
2. Reinstalling OS X
3. Throwing computer through window.

Any advice?

Dan
