Well, the tape drive company said I'd not be able to get a device name
for the tape drive until it got out of its funk (the famous
blinking-red-light funk), it would not have a name. It never cured
itself, so I'm getting a replacement model and sending back the one I
have. So... the nameless drive never needed to be named.

It was a firewire device, so I didn't need to play any scsi games.

Thanks for the info, though. I'm gonna give it a shot when I get the new
drive in.

Bill
