Get a program like PopMonitor available at versiontracker.com. It will 
go to your various pop3 type accounts and fetch back the header 
information and the first paragraph of the message for you. You can 
then decide if you want to download it via your regular mail client or 
delete it then and there. Pretty useful for stopping junk, viruses, etc.
