Hmm,
While I do like your a) and c) choices, to be fair, Quark has announced
that the next version (6 I think) will be OS-X only and will not run in
OS-9 (Classic or otherwise).
Okay, here is the down-side to that: Quark is notorious at the "first"
version of a major upgrade being buggy -- to the point of being
unusable. But, the users that go along with it will have to just go
along with it.
(InDesign, on the other hand, has the bugs pretty much smoothed out and
is running just fine, but Quark will be releasing the upgrade pretty
soon.)
You do not have to rush right out and buy new Macs tomorrow or today.
But if you did, then I am sure there are a few folks in Cupertino that
would like it. The new Macs coming out after December 31, 2002 will not
boot into OS-9, true, but there are plenty of Macs that will be
available through dealers that you will be able to buy that will boot
into 9 if you just gotta do that. Cast your eyes on the specs for the
current dual processor line-up, they boot into 9 (if you just gotta) and
will be around for some time, one way or another.
By the way, has anyone mentioned that in InDesign you can set the
keyboard shortcuts to be exactly the same as in Quark? Or that most
printers accept the native pdf output files that InDesign easily
creates? (smile).
