Ward,

My powerbook is more than 10 feet from the printer and when I hooked up the
printer to the computer the computer could not see the printer. Undaunted, I
disconnected the computer and reconnected it closer to the printer. I
opened the chooser and selected the printer. The OSX desktop machine does
not see the printer when it is connected to the laptop running OS 9.2.2.

I don't know if this makes a difference but the laptop does not have a built
in usb port. I am using an orange micro usb pcmcia card.

I'll check out the url you sent.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Harry,

As an afterthought, I wonder if you would have any better luck direct
connecting your Epson printer to your Powerbook, enable usb printer sharing,
and see if you can?t access it from your OS X desktop Mac.

I?ve never tried it.

When I check it out in the usb printer sharing control panel on the
powerbook I can see the printer in the network window of the control panel
and usb printer sharing is turned on.

Yet when I try to print from the powerbook I get a message that says the
printer is not responding.

Help!

Thanks.
