Like so many other Insight customers, I had trouble sending e-mail.
After service personnel had come to my home twice, and after several
hours on the telefone, they diagnosed the problem: the e-dress shown
as mine in my out-going e-mails was not an @insightbb.com e-dress.
They explained that the ISP had always been supposed to reject such
mail as a barrier to robot-generated spam, but their former lessor of
equipment or lines or whatever had been sloppy. Now, they control
their own lines and run a tite ship (that bounces my out-going mail).
What to do? They said get in touch with the ISP of my e-dress. I did,
and I am sending this post thru them.
Relying on Lee's post, praise be unto him, I asked about port 465
with password authentication. "Yes", he said, "we offer that service
to commercial customers, but not to [you]."
I don't know how to set Eudora to use port 465, but following Lee's
instructions, I set Mail to do so in about 3 minutes. Works like a
charm. Now, if I could transfer my address book, filters and mail
boxes, I'd switch to Mail.
I found where Mail offers to transfer mail boxes from Eudora, but it
does not see the mail boxes when I point to them. I do not see any
instructions on transferring the address book or filters, but then, I
have not yet read the manual.
