Maybe you've solved the problem by now, John, but I'm surprised no one mentioned iEmpty, which someone on the list led me to some months ago. I think it's freeware from Version Tracker. It's been so long since I used it that my original app had somehow disappeared, but last week I had a problem similiar to yours -- a file that was "locked or in use" (when I knew doggone well it wasn't). I tracked down the website, downloaded a new iEmpty, and it cured the problem in seconds. While I'm at it, a question about macgroup "etiquette": after being on the list for a couple of years (digest), I still don't know how to copy and reply to an earlier message as others seem to do. My only solution is to open a new "write mail," insert the macgroup address from my address book, then copy and paste the post I'm responding to, which generally involves some editing and rewriting. Also, I note that my (infrequent) posts are semi-garbled; many punctuation marks turn up as "special characters" and spaces are often lacking between words. Is that because I'm on aol? Or what am I doing wrong? Much tnx, Nolan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
