I'm new to the list, as everyone will know from my inane questions. I'm not
new to Macs, but new to an iMac G4 and OS X. When I insert a disk that
I've burnt (in this case, containing files from my old Mac), I sometimes but
not
always get a message that tells me the iMac can't read the disk and it doesn't
show up on my desktop. If I eject it and reinsert it several times, it
eventually shows up on the desktop. Why?

Also, at random times, when I try to sign on AOL, I get a message that says
the computer can't communicate with the modem. If I just keep clicking on
"Continue," after four or five times, it will eventually sign on. Other times
it signs on immediately, without the message. Is this maybe an AOL problem?

Many thanks,

Nolan
