As you probably know Bellsouth recently ramped up their virus protection and it's a tad overzealous. Seems it's blocking email from erdos.
Bellsouth kept bouncing back my messages from the macusergroup listserve (erdos.math.louisville.edu). There is a solution and I've outlined the steps so please pass this on to bellsouth users you know: 1. open your web browser to: <http://home.bellsouth.net/> 2. click on the email icon 3. log into your email account 4. on the left side of the browser window is a box labeled OPTIONS 5. from that list select PREFERENCES 6. a new window opens and there is a menu horizontally on the right side of the screen- the choices are: Mailbox, Rules, Signature, Display, POP Mail, Block Senders, Filter 7. Select Filter 8. In the new window that opens click on "Add a New Filter" 9. Rule 1 appears (it may already be there before you click on "Add a New Filter") 10. Fill out the first line of the form like so: If From contains erdos 11. then click on the second button, the one that says Move to folder: inbox (use the drop down window to select inbox if inbox isn't already selected. 12. click "save settings" 13. Log out of your account. And that's all there is to it. I did encounter a glitch. It seems Bellsouth is also blocking messages from insightbb users, too. When I set the rule: If From contains insightbb A friend was still getting his messages to me bounced back to him. So I set up a rule for his email address. I don't know why it works for erdos but not insight! Maybe he didn't wait long enough after I made the change before sending me an email! Harry Jacobson-Beyer
