with the release of iPhoto '08, Apple has vastly improved its keyword
(tag) feature.
So much so, that I don't mind that Keyword Assistant won't support
the new version.

Keywords make iPhoto usable for me, so much so that I don't know how
I used the program before I sat down and started using them. It's
great to be able to type in the search field, and have all the
pictures with my wife in them pop up, etc. without having to use
folders (or rolls/events).

Now I just tag them with every import. My wife on the other hand is
about 2000 pictures behind in her library. It's much easier for me to
find that picture of uncle George with aunt sue at cousin Timmy's
wedding from a few months ago.

the problem comes when wanting to use other programs, etc.

iTunes embeds the metadata (like artist, artwork, genre, etc.) right
into the music file itself, while iPhoto keeps all that data in the
its library file.
If this file becomes damaged or corrupt everything is lost.

Is there an easy automated way (applescript?) to take the keywords in
iPhoto and embed them into the photos IPTC data so that the
information transfers with the file?

Thanks,

Rick
