i setup a new aluminum iMac for a student several days ago, and the keyboard was so impressive in my brief encounter, that i ordered one. this could be simply the best keyboard apple has manufactured. aluminum deck, white plastic on verso.
'diminutive' would be an accurate description...it is dwarfed by everything else on the desktop. it looks almost puny hooked to the G5. thin, sleek, low are other applicable adjectives. my wife said it looked weird...'where's the base'. (matches the operator). very intuitive in use, and the action is simply fantastic! wow! positive key response, and very quiet for late hour code mangling. apple has added new F key functionalities?all with icon labels?that make sense. the new 'player' controls are a treat, and the F4 window focus button?with applicable modifier keys?is just...right. fortunately the display's brightness controls do not work with my cinema display. in a calibrated workspace, inadvertent change is not a good thing. i also had to remap all my photoshop F key shortcuts. if you need/want a new keyboard, take a serious look. $50 corded, $80 wireless. best...jf
