BEFORE the merge with BellSouth, AT&T's backbone was Covad, and both their physical and customer services were positively excellent. Great speed on basic-DSL service, and contacts were onshore, with good success. AFTER the merge, their service is poor, at best. Good luck with any typical customer service contact, as most contacts resulted in offshore locations; English speaking, but only the minimal of understanding when it comes to communicating with real world situations of which we're accustomed to. I fought for over a month to have service reinstated after a basic residence change (downstairs, same building), but no success, as their "procedures" would not allow it. They tried switching me to BellSouth service, etc., but I knew better. Terrible treatment. --russ
