Ed,

I think I will do something similar when I upgrade
(eventually) from my Mac Mini.  But, I was thinking
more along the Mac MAME arcade cabinet/Jukebox route. 
Here is a tabletop version (true not as cool looking
as a Mac Classic) but most likely simpler to build:
