Thought I'd post this while it's fresh on my mind (what's left of it). I've
been following -- remotely -- various threads re DSL from various
providers. But since until this week we were not able to get DSL out here
in the boonies (near Bowling Green), I haven't paid much attention, although
I recall complaints about Insight, BellSouth, etc. We got it through
BellSouth. They sent us all the necessary stuff -- modem, filters, wiring,
etc. I was sure I'd never get it up and running, but I did, in about 30
minutes, and that was mostly crawling behind desks, bookcases, and other
furniture to find the phone jacks. I did have to make one call to tech
help, but the guy was actually a help, and we solved the problem pronto. It
works like a whiz, and my wife -- who pays the phone bill -- says it's not
costing us more that the landline setup, maybe less. There may be problems
down the line -- aren't there always? -- but I thought I'd offer this plug
for BellSouth while things are still going smoothly. (Never much cared for
BellSouth until now, but for the time being, I'm on their side. What a
delight to finally have DSL!)
