Try changing the channel. Home wireless routers share the same  
frequencies as baby monitors, cordless phones and other routers.  
There may be a device on the same channel that's killing your  
performance. A couple of years ago, mine was killed by a neighbor's  
cordless phone. I figured it out when I noticed her out on her deck  
with her phone several times as the Internet disappeared.
