And . . . if one's wireless router (Linksys) channel setting is
"Auto" -- which is supposed to find the best channel automatically --
is there any possible advantage to switching to a specific channel?

The only problem I have is intermittent loss of connection between
the router and the ISP, requiring the router to be powered down and
then back up, which in every instance has eventually restored the
connection. I've had this problem with every router and every
provider I've had and have just assumed that it is an unavoidable
feature of broadband Internet connections. It happens at home about
(cable modem) once a week on average and at work (T1 connection)
about once every two weeks on average.

Is there anyone out there who _doesn't_ occasionally have to reset
their router (and/or cable/DSL modem) to restore their internet
connection?
