On the first Mac I decided to upgrade the installation didn't stall. I
got a Can not install on this Hard drive error.

An it then asked to reformat. Well I said "ah no". But the damage was
already done. The Installer had already corrupted the Boot volume of the
hard drive. This left me with a flashing folder with a ? Well a couple
of hours trying to get DiskWarrior and tech tool pro to recover from
the error. Lead me to dig out the original Disc's for the Mac in
question. I then had to go back to a fresh install of Tiger and then do
an install of Leopard. So it ended up being a real fun Sunday. I have
several more hours of getting this Mac back into shape again. So the 3
other Mac's in the house are going to wait for this update as I purchase
more hard drives for each to do a bootable back up on each one before I
attempt to upgrade them.

Oh your mileage may vary.:)

Friends,
I have belonged to a writers group for years. Before installing Leopard,
I read their comments. One member passed along a thread on the Apple
discussions site. It not only agrees with the advice from fatalerror
that archive and install is the right way to go, but it contains other
important information. In any event, thought I'd pass it on FYI. The
first part is pretty much the same, but read to the bottom of the thread
for the good stuff. (Looks like Apple may have a huge problem about
installing Leopard it needs to solve. Think I'll wait for a while :-)

                8. With the Dock at the bottom, you can view folders as
a fan or a
grid. With the Dock on either side, you only get the
grid.

drill
down nested folders (as in tiger dock).
an irritating trade off of functionality for mediocre fan/grid

viable

folderglance
