I have been playing with NeoOffice, the open-source alternative to MS
Office. It makes Open Document Text files (.odt).
My version of MS Word will not open them.
NeoOffice can open MS Office files, and it can save as
Microsoft Word 95 (.doc)
Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc)
Microsoft Word 6.0 (.doc)
Microsoft Word 2003 XML (.xml)
Microsoft Word 2007 document (.docx)
but before it does it asks,
This document may contain formatting or content that cannot be saved
in the Microsoft Word [97/2000/XP] format. Do you want to save the
document in this format anyway?
- Clik 'Yes" to save in Microoft Word [97/2000/XP] file format.
- Click 'No" to use the latest OpenDocument file format and be sure
of all formatting and content is saved correctly.
Since MS Word is the lingua franca, being unable to translate into it
seems a major problem. Any solutions?
