Steve is this a Movie file purchased thru iTunes or a video Podcast?
I do not think the purchased MP4's can be converted to a format for  
burning to a playable DVD do
to copy write protection.
You can use a piece of software like FFmegx to turn a MP4 into a Mpeg  
2 which is the format for video for
a standard DVD. Then use Toast to burn it as a playable DVD.
