the general notion is that the anti-glare standard screen is better for outdoor viewing and image editing, while the glossy is better in controlled light. from actual experience, i find the glossy screen just fine for either, so glossy will be my choice in the future. many professional photographers are making the same choice, with the built to order 17" macbook pro.
