a friend of mine recently bought a macbook online through a website called fatwallet.com. it allowed him to access the apple store online, gave him a 2% rebate (the check got to him before the laptop). he also got an educational discount since his wife is a teacher...

Subject: Re: [MacGroup] Opinion needed
the main thing is to be certain you aquire the 15" 'LED' display model. i have
bought stuff from macmall with no problems. all the nuances of rebates are
personal preference.
personally, if i lived in louisville, i would go to the apple store and walk
home with one that i bought from a face. (guys do stuff like that :) best...jf

I am getting ready to purchase a new 15" Macbook Pro, however, I am
trying to decide where to purchase it. I checked MacAuthority online and they
seem to only have the older models. I could purchase from our new Apple store,
or MacMall is offering a $150 rebate on the model I want. My concern is that
they only give you a 20 day window to file for the rebate and it takes 10 days
for the unit to arrive. They also offer "free" Parallels with the unit after
another rebate. I like the idea of getting the unit for $150 off but really
hate the idea of dealing with a rebate. I also bought my last laptop from mail
order for a rebate and you know the luck I had with it.
Has anybody ever dealt with MacMall? Any opinions on the subject? I am
leaning toward buying it locally in case something goes wrong, however I really
like the idea of $150 off. Help!
