Found these: Repubblica.it reports that Telecom Italia will be launching the iPhone in Italy in the next few weeks for sale by the summer.
The new model is said to be based on 3G (UMTS) technology and will be sold originally through Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM). The 3G iPhone, however, will not be locked to any provider, but TIM will have the inital advantage with a few month lead time over other carriers. ______________ An anonymous source for CNet.com.au claims that Apple will launch the iPhone in Australia in late June with Optus as one of several carriers to support the phone. The source reportedly also hinted that the launch would be for the upcoming 3G version of the phone rather than the current version that uses EDGE for data. The rumor coincides with rumors earlier in April from MacTalk.com.au suggesting a late-June launch of an multi-carrier iPhone in Australia where existing Apple resellers would all get to sell the phone. But nothing being talked about in the USA. There was talk about the iphone being offered cheaper when bought with the 2 year at&t contract, but nothing confirmed yet. June 6 is when Steve Jobs does a keynote talk at the WWDC. Have to wait til then I guess.
