My late 2008 (Unibody) Macbook Pro has been a wonderful machine.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of applying the GPU earlier this
year. This is the one that Apple pulled a few days later, and to my
knowledge has not re-released.
Since then I've been having intermittent problems with the top 1/3 to
1/2 of my screen flashing black for a split second. This used to
happen very in frequently, but has seemed to get worse lately.

I've read that it's only a problem affecting the 9400 NVidia card and
not the 9600, so I switched over to the 9600. No screen flashing/
blinking yet. I don't mind the drop in battery life too much as I'm
usually connected to a power source. The problem comes with an
increase in temperature.

With the 9400 GPU my average temp (using iStat) for general web
surfing, office productivity, etc. was around 45-55C. Now using the
9600 doing the same tasks, it seems to hover around 62-75. It's much
higher when doing something in iMovie or Lightroom.
I rarely heard the fans come on before unless doing some heavy
lifting, but now they ramp up more often.

Is the constant extra heat something to be concerned about, or are
these within general temperature range for this machine?

Thanks.
