I've been trying to explain the differences between USB and FW speeds
to non-techie people, and came up with the following metaphor. If you
see flaws in it, could you let me know so I can edit it and be more
accurate in my description?

As I understand it, USB is a serial connection, FireWire is parallel.
Therefore...

If a two lane highway (our USB connection) has a speed limit of 55
mph, versus an 8 lane highway (FireWire) with a speed limit of 45 mph,
the 8 lane highway will still allow more traffic, simply because more
cars can travel each direction at once, even with the slower speed.

I know this is simplistic, but generally, is that the right idea?

Thanks folks!

Bryan
