Hi Folks,

I have a USB thumb drive which was made to secure on that other OS. When I use it on my Mac, it appears as 2 different drives---even in Disk Utility, so I cannot repartition it to be a single drive. If I look at it on a Windoze machine, it looks like a floppy and a hard drive. If I look at it with diskutil, unix says:

/dev/disk1
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: Apple_partition_scheme *1.9 Gi disk1 1: Apple_partition_map 31.5 Ki disk1s1 2: Apple_HFS swing drive 1.8 Gi disk1s3
/dev/disk2
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: windoze artifact *1.4 Mi disk2

FWIW, the disk names under Disk Utility are "USB DISK Pro Media".

Does anyone know if there is some way to combine the two (apparent) disks into one? Failing that, is there some way to get it to be unrecognized by Mac OS X, so that it'll stop mounting? I cannot partition it and have it be all empty space, because it is too small (1.44MB, as those big floppies were).

Having to eject two disks has finally gotten me annoyed enough to ask.

Thanks for any tips,

Bill
