Bill,
The Airport Extreme, just before the current one with the dual band,
had unbelievable range. Our home is three story, the airport is in
the lower level in the corner behind walls and doors. Then there are
other doors, and still more with the far corner of the 3rd floor being
unbelievably far from the base. This unit could cover the entire
house, easily with full bars everywhere.
I purchased one of the dual band units so guest visiting could log on
without me giving them my password. Great idea but I have NEVER been
able to get the range on this unit that I had with the three units I
used from the previous generations.
I will go back to the previous generation for I need the range, wish
they still sold that unit.

Hi all,
I'm now convinced my router is kaputt. Any advice on more modern
routers? Everyone in the family now has a newer mac with Airport
Extreme cards, so there is no need for backward compatibility. All I
really need it good range.
