Hey gang,
Here's just a warning to pass on. Visioneer is planning to release a
new scanner for the Mac market.
I scanned thousands of pages into their Visioneer Paperport product
years ago. Then they stopped supporting it. COMPLETELY. I emailed! I
Called! I sent them LETTERS! I begged them to help me save and convert
the hundreds of hours I spent cataloging my entire business document
library. Guess what I got? NOTHING! This horrible corporate behavior
should never be rewarded. When the Mac market went soft, they
abandoned us. It wouldn't have been so bad had they done the right
thing, developed a conversion application to help us move from their
proprietary format to PDF and let us go about our business. I
understand that they were no longer making money in the Mac market and
it was simply a business decision. But no, they just dropped all of
their users cold. Intolerable. And now they hope to re-enter the Mac
market when Apple's fortunes are rising? How insulting. How do they
plan to ensure that new users won't be stranded in the future? This
is a great lesson for every business school curriculum - How to make
enemies out of your customers....
I moved on to Fujitsu's Scansnap and love it. Sorry for the rant....!
