Here is how you stop having the icons from going Puff.
Go to [SystemDisk]->Users->[User]->Library->Preferences-
>com.apple.dock.plist (getinfo->lock it)
Getinfo is command key + I key.

I'm pretty sure that was nothing more than a link to the Apple web
site that the system puts in your dock by default. I always remove
that from my dock when setting up a new system anyway, because it
takes up space and I already have that bookmarked in Safari. So...
don't worry about it, you haven't lost anything important.
