I would turn off all password settings first to make sure everything is working.
Then turn on the wpa an set the password and network name.

Subject: [MacGroup] Wireless troubleshooting

Hi, group,

I am trying to use wireless with my old G4 tower running Leopard, to no
success. We have a Linksys wireless router, but we have been using ethernet
with most of our computers. It works beautifully with the Tivo and my MacBook.
I bought a used Airport card for the old G4. When I go to "About this Mac" it
recognizes the card. It can see our network, but it cannot connect. It says
that I may have the wrong password (no) or the wrong name for the network (no).
We checked the password security. It is set to WPA personal on the router. We
tried WPA versus WPA2, but no luck. We tried something called "Short GI" in the
router settings, but again, no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions for
something else I might try? Is it likely that this used airport card is no good?

TIA,

Wendi
