Friends,
Being the total iPhone 4 obsessor that I am, I checked Apple's site before I
hit the hay last night. As of 12:30, they were not accepting pre-orders yet.
Having to, ahem, arise in the night, I decided to check again around 4:45. It
was UP!
I then spent over an hour repeatedly trying to get the site to take my
reservation. It would get part way through and then kick me off or just stall.
Finally, it worked around 6 am. I now have the privilege of showing up at the
Apple store on June 24th (doors open at 7:00!) and shuffle through the line to
get mine, providing I bring the following:
• A valid, government-issued photo ID
• Your (well, mine, actually) Social Security number
• A debit or credit card
What, no first-born child? I may bring her along just in case!
Then, I went to look at the store again and it was totally down. Us fanatics
brought the Apple store to its knees! (Serves 'em right for making such great
stuff!) It's back up now, but I'm sure it will be a busy day for the store.
Black only, right now. White is NOT available at this time ("For Pre-order or
Store Pickup" the site said).
Also dropping out of Apple Heaven this morning is a new Mac Mini--smaller,
faster, built-in power supply, HDMI out(!) and more expensive:

NEW OS
If you have an iPhone or Touch, remember to watch your iTunes for the new iOS 4
on Monday, the 21st. Free for all, even Touch owners. iPad owners have to wait
for "sometime later" (whether "later in the summer" or "later in the year" is
unclear) for their version.
