Hi All,

Earlier today, my airport extreme seems to have gotten all messed up.

Here are the symptoms:

Some web pages load most of the time: http://google.com
Some pages never load not: http://apple.com

It doesn't matter if I use straight IP addresses

Works: http://74.125.157.99 (which is Google)
Fails: http://17.112.152.57 (which is Apple)

It doesn't matter if the two sites are hosted in the same building from the
same rack of computers (but with slightly different IP addresses):

Works: http://gllamm.org
Fails: http://stata.com

I've already restored default settings on the Airport Extreme (twice, to be
precise).

If I bypass the airport extreme and connect directly to the cable modem, the
problems disappear...

This makes me think that the router is a mess, though it seems very strange to
me that it can selectively fail.

Here is the question: is there a way to clean out the DNS cache on an Airport
Extreme? Perhaps this is the wrong solution, but it seems to be the only thing
I can think of.

If the router truly is dead, I'll be very disappointed, because the router is
not all that old (maybe a year and a half?). Hardly worth the $179 I plunked
down for it after being sick of NetGear routers breaking after 2 years.
Shouldn't electronic equipment do a little better when not being overheated or
have water spilt all over them?

Bill
FWIW, I tried getting a TrendNet modem for my apt in Texas, only to have it
show up DOA. I wonder if the problem is me.
