There is one other possibility that I can think of, though. 

Say (hypothetically, of course) that someone was dumb enough to think that they 
just sent a message from the wrong email address and that it would get bounced 
by the listserv software because that wasn't the address that that member 
signed up with. Now, also hypothetically, say that that person decided to send 
the same message once again, but this time from the correct address. And then, 
hypothetically, that person later discovered that the original message had 
indeed been sent from the correct address and they both went through, looking 
quite identical, and proving him, once and for all, a poseur. 

I'm just speaking hypothetically here because I would never be stupid enough to 
make such a boneheaded mistake. 

But it happened to this friend of mine once.
