Not only can't print, but can't "preview".

 Sometimes I get
"there was a problem allocating a GrafPort"

 other times,
"system error. Not enuf room in heap zone. -108 occurred"

I have turned computer and printer off and on, but nada.

A grafport is a region in memory where the things you want to print are drawn. If you are really low on memory, you can't print because the machine can't make a grafport. So, check your RAM and hard drive space. If these are nearly full, that could be your problem. If they have a lot of space left, you might just reinstall the operating system because something has been borked.

About this Mac
Memory 1 gb

System memory:
Wired 170 mb
Active 542 mb
Inactive 290 mb
Free 20 mb

I think you're telling me to reinstall the OS.
Not purge the memory bec it would likely happen again?
