I cannot believe the difference in the performance of my Mac since I rebuilt the directory. I plan to rebuild the directories in my other 3 portable drives too. Also, turning off some of the extensions that I don't use made Firefox work normal again. I get the beach ball sometimes but for short periods. I now know that if my machine slows down, what I need to do. Would it be better to do a monthly rebuild to make sure it doesn't get that way?
