I am a big fan of Time Machine as a painless way to back up your hard drive(s), 
but I also use (at the office) a program called ChronoSync that can be 
scheduled to back up only changed files every night, or on whatever schedule 
you prefer. We use it for our voluminous photo archives. It's worked well for 
us and we've been using it for about five years. You can learn more about it
