Harry,

Have you tried other SMTP (outgoing email) servers?

You can try using the MobileMe one:

smtp.me.com, check the use SSL box and set it for password authentication with 
your MobileMe credentials.

That will give you another outgoing server to try. 

Experiment with that and see if it doesn't work better than BellSouth.
